Time Your Muzzle Device Right the First Time

The SureFire SOCOM Shim Kit 1/2-28 (Z-70031) gives you nine stainless steel shims and a tube of Rocksett to index a muzzle device on a 1/2"-28 TPI threaded barrel. SureFire built this kit as the direct replacement shim set for its FH556RC-1/2-28 SOCOM 4-prong flash hider, and it works with other muzzle devices that accept a .700" outer diameter, .510" inner diameter shim.

Why Shims Matter

A flash hider or brake that stops a few degrees off its intended position vents gas the wrong way and can throw off a suppressor mount. Shims let you add exact thickness behind the device so it tightens down at the correct clock position.

Compatibility

• Barrels: Any barrel threaded 1/2"-28 TPI, including most 5.56mm and .223 AR-15 barrels and many .22 and 9mm barrels.
• Muzzle devices: The SureFire FH556RC-1/2-28, plus other 1/2-28 flash hiders, brakes, and compensators that accept a .700" by .510" shim.
• Other SureFire 1/2-28 devices: SureFire's listed kit for the SF3P, SFA2, SFCT, SFMB, and WARCOMP 1/2-28 devices is the 12-shim Z-71652. Choose that kit if you want the exact set matched to those devices.
• Not compatible: 5/8"-24 threaded barrels for .30 caliber, 7.62mm, and .300 Blackout. SureFire sells separate 5/8-24 shim kits for those.
• Check first: Devices with a proprietary shim size or a larger rear bore may need a different kit.
