Overview of the CoolCop Body Armor AC Device
The Problem Every Vest-Wearing Officer Knows
Eight hours into a shift, your undershirt is soaked, your vest is trapping heat against your body, and your car's A/C is doing nothing for the area that needs it most. Heat fatigue, heat exhaustion, and dehydration are real officer safety issues -- and no fan pointed at your face solves the problem under body armor.
The CoolCop Solution
The CoolCop Body Armor Air Conditioning Device clips directly onto your patrol vehicle's A/C vent and routes a steady flow of cool air through a 6-foot flexible hose to a soft vinyl vest nozzle that sits between your vest and undershirt. Cool, directed airflow reaches your core in minutes.
Available in four vehicle-specific models:
- Universal (Tahoe, Explorer 2020+, F-150, Durango, Crown Victoria, and most cars, trucks, and SUVs)
- Ford Explorer Interceptor SUV (2012-2019)
- Dodge Charger (2011+)
- Ford Taurus / Sedan Police Interceptor (2010+)
Law enforcement professionals across all 50 states trust CoolCop to stay comfortable, focused, and ready throughout long patrol shifts. Invented and manufactured in the USA by a police officer.
Key Features
-
Vehicle-Specific Fit: Four model variants cover the most common patrol vehicle platforms, including the Chevy Tahoe, Dodge Charger (2011+), Ford Explorer Interceptor SUV (2012-2019), Ford Taurus/Sedan Police Interceptor (2010+), and most modern cars, trucks, and SUVs via the Universal model.
-
Directed Airflow Under Your Vest: A 6-foot flexible hose connects the dash-mounted cup to a soft vinyl vest nozzle that routes conditioned air directly between your vest carrier and undershirt, where passive airflow cannot reach.
-
Quick Clip-On Installation: The dash cup attaches to your A/C vent using spring clips, a snap-in clip, or a screw-down base plate with opposing clips -- depending on the model. No drilling required on most vehicles.
-
Snap-In and Interchangeable Design: The Explorer Interceptor, Charger, and Taurus models all feature a snap-in clip and are easily interchangeable between patrol vehicles of the same type.
-
Universal Vent Cup Dimensions: The Universal model dash cup measures 5.5 inches by 3.5 inches (14 cm x 9 cm) and requires a vent opening of that size or smaller, with no more than 0.5 inches of curvature as measured with a straight edge.
-
Dual-Season Use: The system works with your vehicle's heater as well, giving you directed warm air behind your vest during cold-weather shifts.
-
Lifetime Warranty on Clips: CoolCop backs the clip mechanism with a lifetime warranty. Contact the manufacturer at sales@coolcop.com with your model and shipping address for a free replacement.
-
Made in the USA: CoolCop is designed, manufactured, and owned by a police officer based in California.
-
Bulk Ordering Available: Department and agency orders accepted. Contact sales@coolcop.com for pricing and purchase order processing.

Compatibility
Confirmed Compatible Vehicles by Model
Universal Model (Tahoe, Explorer 2020+, F-150, Durango, and most vehicles)
The Universal model uses a screw-down base plate with opposing clips and is a semi-permanent installation. It fits most cars, trucks, and SUVs where the vent opening is 5.5 inches or smaller by 3.5 inches, with no more than 0.5 inches of curvature. Confirmed compatible platforms include:
- Chevrolet Tahoe (all years)
- Chevrolet Impala
- Chevrolet Caprice (base plate drilling required)
- Ford Explorer (2020+)
- Ford F-150
- Ford Expedition (2011+)
- Dodge Durango
- Humvee/HMMWV
- Crown Victoria (use CoolCop Universal)
- Most additional cars, trucks, and SUVs meeting the vent dimension requirement
For round vents or trucks where clips do not engage cleanly, zip ties can be used to secure the base plate.
Ford Explorer Interceptor SUV Model (2012-2019)
Features a new and improved spring clip for a snap-in fit. Interchangeable between 2012-2019 Ford Explorer Utility Interceptors. Note: the 2020+ Explorer requires the Universal model.
Dodge Charger Model (2011+)
Snap-in design fits all 2011 and newer Dodge Charger patrol vehicles. Interchangeable between same-year vehicles.
Ford Taurus / Sedan Police Interceptor Model (2010+)
Snap-in design fits all 2010 and newer Ford Taurus Sedan Police Interceptors. If the vinyl dash cup is cold or stiff, run the vehicle's heater briefly before installation to improve flexibility. Do not force the cup during installation or removal; slide it sideways to release.
Exclusions and Limitations
- The Universal model does NOT fit the 2014 Ford Explorer, the 2012-2019 Ford Explorer Utility Interceptor, the Dodge Charger, or the Ford Taurus Interceptor. Vehicle-specific models are required for these platforms.
- The Universal model does not fit vents with more than 0.5 inches of curvature as measured with a straight edge.
- CoolCop is designed for use in enclosed vehicles with functioning A/C or heat systems. It does not generate its own cooling or heating; it redirects existing conditioned air.
Intended Users
CoolCop is built first for law enforcement officers -- patrol deputies, municipal police, highway patrol, and corrections officers -- who spend hours each shift in a vehicle while wearing a body armor vest. Heat fatigue and dehydration are recognized officer safety risks, and CoolCop delivers a direct, practical countermeasure without requiring any modification to the uniform or the vehicle.
Security professionals and armed guards operating in patrol vehicles or fleet cars benefit equally. Any professional required to wear a ballistic vest or load-bearing equipment during vehicle-based work will find immediate relief.
EMS and paramedic crews working in ambulances or supervisor vehicles in warm climates can use the Universal model to manage comfort during long on-scene holdovers or between calls.
Military and government personnel using Humvees, Expeditions, or other fleet vehicles in tactical or hot-weather environments are also well served by the Universal model.
Finally, corrections transport officers and campus or hospital security officers who ride in standard patrol or fleet vehicles can use any compatible model to reduce heat-related fatigue during extended shifts.
