Wood nightsticks can chip, split, and splinter after years on a duty belt. Monadnock states the MP's polycarbonate construction delivers excellent impact resistance and resists denting and splintering.

Monadnock credits itself with inventing the first thermoplastic police baton in 1958, and the MP straight riot baton series has been part of law enforcement equipment ever since. Every model measures 1.25 inches in diameter and comes in 24, 26, or 36 inch lengths.

• Length guide: Monadnock's sizing guide recommends a 26 inch baton for users over 6 feet tall. The 36 inch models suit riot and crowd control duty.
• Not compatible: this is a fixed baton. It does not fit Front Draw holders built for expandable, PR-24, or side handle batons.
