Monadnock's sizing guide recommends a 26 inch baton for users over 6 feet tall. The 24 inch MP24 is the shortest MP option for users under 6 feet, and the 36 inch models suit riot and crowd control duty.

The grip changes only the handle. Knurled grips add texture for a firm hold, the plain LAPD style is smooth, the NYPD style adds a foam handle, and the 36 inch QS1G uses a ribbed grenade grip.

Polycarbonate holds up better than wood for most duty use. Monadnock states its MP polycarbonate resists denting and splintering, while wood batons can chip and split over time. Wood still appeals to officers who want a traditional feel.

Carry a straight baton when you want a fixed length that is ready with no deployment step. An expandable baton collapses for a smaller belt footprint but must be opened before use. Monadnock makes both styles.

The Monadnock MP baton measures 1.25 inches in diameter. Use a baton ring or straight baton holder sized for 1.25 inch batons, and add a rubber grommet such as the Monadnock 2712 to stop it from sliding through.
