Wearing a body armor vest in a hot patrol vehicle is a recognized officer safety risk -- and your car's vents alone won't reach where you need cooling most. CoolCop clips onto your A/C vent and routes a 6-foot hose to a soft vinyl nozzle tucked between your vest and undershirt. Vehicle-specific models cover the Charger, Explorer, Taurus, and most other patrol platforms. Invented by a cop, trusted nationwide.

Frequently Asked Questions about the CoolCop Body Armor AC Device

Question 1: How does the CoolCop Body Armor AC Device actually work?

CoolCop redirects cool air from your vehicle's existing A/C vent directly behind your body armor vest. A vinyl dash cup clips onto your car or truck's A/C vent, a 6-foot flexible hose carries the conditioned air, and a soft vinyl nozzle tucks between your vest carrier and undershirt to deliver airflow where it is needed most. It does not generate its own cold air -- it simply puts your vehicle's existing A/C to work where it matters.

Question 2: Which CoolCop model do I need for my patrol vehicle?

Your vehicle determines which model to order. The Ford Explorer Interceptor SUV model fits the 2012-2019 Explorer only -- the 2020+ Explorer requires the Universal. The Charger model fits 2011 and newer Dodge Chargers. The Taurus model fits 2010 and newer Ford Taurus Sedan Police Interceptors. The Universal model fits the Chevy Tahoe (all years), Ford F-150, Dodge Durango, and most other cars, trucks, and SUVs where the vent opening is 5.5 inches by 3.5 inches or smaller with no more than 0.5 inches of curvature.

Question 3: Can I move my CoolCop between different patrol vehicles?

Yes, with the right model. The Explorer Interceptor, Charger, and Taurus models use snap-in clips that make them easily interchangeable between vehicles of the same type. The Universal model uses a screw-mounted base plate for a more secure, semi-permanent fit, but it can be removed and transferred with a 7/64 Allen wrench or a 1/4-inch drive socket -- a task most officers complete in minutes with practice.

Question 4: Is overheating a real risk for officers wearing body armor in hot weather?

Yes, heat-related illness is a documented occupational hazard for officers in body armor. Heat stroke, heat exhaustion, heat rash, dehydration, and heat-related fatigue are all recognized risks when wearing insulating protective equipment in warm environments. Body armor significantly reduces the body's ability to shed heat through evaporation and convection, making directed cooling especially important during summer months and in warm-climate assignments.

Question 5: Does CoolCop work in winter, or is it only for hot weather?

CoolCop works year-round. The same hose and vest nozzle system that routes cool air in summer also routes warm air from your vehicle's heater during cold-weather shifts, making it a dual-season comfort tool for officers who wear vests regardless of weather.
